Ethiopia: Learning Programme on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, 16 – 17 April 2015

PWESCR (Programme on Women’s Economic, Social and Cultural Rights), in partnership with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights – East Africa Regional Office (OHCHR-EARO), Network of Ethiopian Women’s Association (NEWA), Disability Rights Promotion International, The Women’s Support Association (WSA) and Finnish NGO Foundation for Human Rights (KIOS), is organising a two-day Learning Programme on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, 16 – 17 April  2015 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The Programme will enhance conceptual understanding of human rights mechanisms, and will build activism and advocacy skills on how to effectively use human rights mechanisms at all levels – international, regional and national. It will offer comprehensive insight on economic, social and cultural rights. It will provide an enabling environment to engage in discussion with highly experienced trainers, civil society actors, and policy makers.

We are also happy to share that Mr. Idrissa Oumar Kane, Regional Representative, Eastern Africa, OHCHR-EARO, and Ms. Letty Chiwara, Representative to Ethiopia, Africa Union (AU), and Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) from UN Women (TBC) will be the chief guests. Ms. Priti Darooka, Founder and Executive Director of PWESCR and Mr. Getahun Kassa Atey, Associate Professor, Addis Ababa University – Institute of Human Rights, are the resource persons for the Workshop.
