DRPI Training at Yukon Human Rights Commission

On November 21st, the Yukon Human Rights Commission (YHRC) will host a DRPI training on holistic disability rights monitoring led by Marcia Rioux, director of Disability Rights Promotion International (DRPI).  YHRC is committed to raising awareness on inclusion and human rights. The training moves away from traditional approaches to disability which view persons with disabilities as a ‘problem’ to rehabilitate or fix. The training will focus on disability rights in the context of human rights.  According to Jessica Lott Thompson, the executive director of the YHRC, “It [DRPI] really places that ethos of ‘nothing about us without us,’ really at the centre of human rights work.”
