Dec 3 – International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Disability Rights Promotion International Celebrates Dec 3, International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

December 3, 2019, is the International Day of Disabled Persons. Proclaimed in 1992 by the United Nations General Assembly, this universal observance promotes the rights of disabled persons in all spheres of society and development.

This year’s theme for Dec 3, 2019, is Promoting the participation of persons with disabilities and their leadership: Taking Action on the 2030 Development Agenda. This theme focuses on the empowerment of disabled persons for inclusive, just and sustainable development as envisioned by the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, which promises to ‘leave no one behind’ and recognizes that disability be included in the implementation of its 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
