Details:

To coincide with the adoption of the Post-2015 Development Framework in September, the International Disability Alliance—in partnership with the United Nations Partnership to Promote the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN PRPD), the São Paulo State Secretariat for the Rights of the Person with Disability and with the support of UNICEF—will hold a conference in Sao Paulo, Brazil from 22 – 24 October: “The Post-2015 Agenda and the UN CRPD in Latin America: Fostering Regional Dialogue to Develop Common Understanding on Implementation of the UN CRPD and an Inclusive Post-2015 Framework”.

The conference will enhance dialogue between national, regional and global stakeholders in Latin America, including organisations of persons with disabilities and their families (DPOs), representatives of States, intergovernmental organisations, UN agencies and UN country teams concerning the implementation of the UN CRPD and the Convention’s ability to support the implementation of an inclusive post-2015 framework as well as other relevant processes.

Conference Objectives:

  1. To enhance multi-stakeholder dialogue on implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD) and the Post-2015 Development Framework
  2. To strengthen national, sub-regional and regional DPO networks and advocacy at the national, regional and global levels to support implementation of the UN CRPD and an inclusive Post-2015 Development Framework in Latin America

Dates:

The conference will be held from 22 – 24 October 2015. The programme will begin on the morning of Thursday 22 October and conclude on the afternoon of Saturday 24 October (a total of two-and-a-half days).

Conference Declaration:

The conference will aim to produce a declaration to be signed by all participants, which will be available as an advocacy tool following completion of the conference.
